E for Engevik havn

On the picture you can see the great boathouses in the harbour of Engevik Havn.

Engevik Havn is located nearly innermost in Sævareidfjorden on the western coast of Norway. Engevik Havn is an old trading place from the 19th century. The fishing boats came in here with fish that was salted and sold. The boathouses in Engevik stand exactly as they stood at the end of the 19th century

These old photo is taken by Thorvald Selmer in 1880. You can find more picture like this in the book "Fjell og Fjord" written by Anders Kåre Engevik

...takk for invitasjon.

A beautiful combination of new and old pictures of the subject. Very well done - and a nice reflection in the water in addition.

Takk for titten=)

I love seeing the old picture so you can compare it to the modern pic. I love to see things being kept the way they were orginally built.
Nice post.

The reflections in your photo make it a work of art. The history is wonderful. I love seeing sights that are just as they were a hundred years and more ago. Even those which have changed and you can see the remains of the past.

Thanks for posting in English, too.

Wonderful comparison between the two photos. I first I thought they were flooded.

Thanks for visiting me! I found your photos of the before and after of the boat houses so interesting. I live in Minnesota where many here have descended from Norwegians. My husband is half Finn/Swede and hopefully we'll be able to see your beautiful part of the world soon.
Have a great day.

Hi, Thank you for your comment. I don't read or write Norwegian, so I used a on-line translator. I was hoping you could understand it.

This is the translation this time:
